Project Connect Drop-In Needs Goods, Volunteers
A popular service fair for people living homeless and in extreme poverty returns to Our Place drop-in for the third year in a row Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Coalition-sponsored Project Connect features one-stop shopping for a long list of much-needed services for some 700 people who we’ll see that day. They’ll come for services including help with housing, medical care, veterinary care, foot treatments, ID replacement, haircuts and more.

Outpouring of Donations to Help Homeless People

VICTORIA, BC—In April of this year, two local philanthropists determined to help homeless people donated $50,000 through the Victoria Foundation with the notion of challenging the community to match their gift. The campaign, aptly named I’ll Match (http://www.victoriafoundation.bc.ca), raised an additional $78,742.75. The total $128,742.75 will go directly to the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness (the Coalition) (www.solvehomelessness.com) for its Streets to Homes pilot program.

Loonie-a-Week Drive Now Up and Running!

If each person in Greater Victoria contributed a loonie a week for a year, we could end homelessness in 8 years. Incredibly, that equals $18,000,000 per year, and $143,500,000 by 2018.
